Whether it is because of ammo shortages or you just do not want to use ammo, you still need to keep up your skills. From practicing dry firing to 0doing low ammo drills, there are still ways you can practice with your Knights Armament AR either at home or at the range. Here are some of your options.
Practice Dry Firing It is never a bad time to practice dry firing. You can do it without using any ammo, and you can get used to the trigger pull of a specific firearm. This could be a range toy, your concealed carry, or even a duty weapon. Dry firing not only builds muscle memory of where the trigger break is, but it teaches your brain to also ignore the report of the gun. It is all too easy to twitch due to instinct, but dry firing can help mitigate that instinct. You can work the trigger controls, practice reloading, target transitions, work on your grip, and more, all without firing a single round. Work On Your Draw Next, you can work on your draw. This could be from a holster for a handgun or your LWRC carbine hanging at your side on a sling. You can even practice drawing from a surface in front of you. Here, the key is target acquisition. You do not even need to squeeze the trigger. You are trying to build muscle memory to get your firearm into the right position and acquire the target as fast as possible. Check Your Holster Setup How is your holster setup working? Can you smoothly draw your Glock? Are you working with an IWB, OWB, or even a shoulder holster? If you are using OWB, is your holster in line with your belt, or are you using a leg drop holster? How far down your leg is the holster? All of these can be adjusted to suit you and your body. OWB, you want your fingers to ideally just brush the grip of the handgun, so you do not have to waste time leaning over. Challenge Yourself to The Test The Test is deceptively hard. Created by Ken Hackathorn and popularized by Larry Vickers, it is 10 shots at an NRA B8 target at 10 yards in 10 seconds. You have to go fast but still shoot accurately in a black 5.5-inch circle. Subract one second for every hit on paper out of the black and 3 seconds for any hit off the black. If you are still under 10 seconds, you pass. Or, if you get 90 points on the paper, you pass. Try The Baer Solutions Drill With a target the is free to download from Baer Solutions, you can start this drill at 3, 5, or 7 meters. Get three mags, with 10 rounds, 3 rounds, and a full mag. On the buzzer, make five shots at the left rectangle, then five at the right. From the slide lock, reload with the 3-round mag, and put three shots in the circle at the middle. Try to make all the shots and do it in under 7 seconds. About GunBroker.com Are you interested in buying, selling, and browsing firearms and their accessories?
